Taiwanese pop icon Jay Chou has accused his longtime friend Cai Weize of disappearing after allegedly managing more than ¥100 million (≈$14 million) worth of Bitcoin on his behalf.
According to local reports, Cai claimed last year that the crypto account was “locked” and the assets were temporarily inaccessible. Since then, he has reportedly cut off all contact and gone missing.
Chou took to Instagram this week, writing: “If anyone sees this magician who made himself disappear, let me know. You think I’m not a magician? If you don’t show up, you’re done.”
He has since unfollowed Cai on social media, signaling a public fallout between the two.
The incident has sparked discussion in the entertainment and crypto communities about the risks of entrusting digital assets to private intermediaries amid rising Bitcoin valuations.
